Removal
Before removing the airbag, block all ignition circuits of the airbag pyrotechnic elements as follows:
- connect the XR25 portable diagnostic tool to the vehicle;
- turn on the ignition;
- set the ISO switch to S8 and enter code D49;
- use the XR25 device to block the control unit and enter command G 80*; When this function is engaged, all ignition circuits are blocked, the airbag warning lamp in the instrument cluster and the left barograph 14 of the XR25 are illuminated (new control units are delivered in a locked state);
- wait two seconds until the control unit automatically discharges;
- turn off the ignition.
Remove the lower trim of the instrument panel.
Remove the heater control panel.
Remove two screws (TX20R) securing the airbag cover and remove it.
Remove the two screws securing the airbag support belt.
Unscrew the screw, release the clamps and remove the central ventilation grilles, while the nozzles of the grilles should be closed.
Remove the screw and release the clamps securing the ventilation grille.
Carefully remove the ventilation grille from its slot in the instrument panel.
Remove the screws (E12) and two hex head bolts securing the airbag module.
Release the airbag module and its bracket by tilting them towards the glove compartment.
Release the clamps and disconnect the two connectors from the airbag.
Installation
- Connect two connectors to the airbag
- Secure both connectors with clips.
- Install the airbag module and its bracket.
- Attach the airbag with bolts and screws and tighten them to the required torque.
- Turn on the ignition.
- Further installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
- Use the XR25 to check for any faults in the security system. If everything is ok, unlock the computer using command G 81*. Make sure that the left barograph 14 of the XR25 is not illuminated.
