The ball joint needs to be replaced if it is beaten or damaged in any way. To do this job, remove the wishbone. Drill out the rivet that holds the joint in place (see illustration). Secure the new joint with bolts and nuts. The bolt heads should be on the same side as the rubber boot of the ball joint. After replacing the joint, check the front wheel alignment angles.
