Removal



Place the vehicle on a two-post lift.

Disconnect the battery.

Remove:
  • left front wheel,
  • front bumper,
  • left front fender liner.

Disconnect the connectors (1) of the electric pump.

Loosen the clamp (2) of the low pressure pipe on the electric pump tank using a tool.

Disconnect the low pressure line and drain the working fluid from the electric pump tank.

Loosen the bolt (3) securing the high pressure pipeline flange to the electric pump.

Loosen the bolt (3) securing the high pressure pipeline flange to the electric pump.


Disconnect the high pressure line from the electric pump.

Install plugs in the openings of the pipes and the electric power steering pump to prevent contaminants from entering the system.

Disconnect the power steering pump wiring harness from the holders at point (4).

Remove:
  • mounting bolts (5) of the power steering pump,
  • nut (6),
  • electric pump together with bracket.

Installation



Always replace the high pressure fuel line sealing ring.

Install the electric pump together with the bracket.

Tighten the bolts and nut securing the power steering pump bracket.

Tighten to the specified torque:
  • electric pump assembly bolts (21 Nm),
  • nut of the electric power steering pump assembly (21 Nm).

Remove the plugs from the openings of the pipes and the electric pump.

Connect the high pressure line with new gaskets to the electric pump.

Install the bolt securing the high pressure fuel line flanges to the electric pump assembly.

Tighten the bolt securing the high-pressure fuel line flange to the electric pump unit to the required torque (21 Nm).

Connect the low pressure hose to the electric pump tank using the tool or (Mot. 1448).

Secure the pump wiring harness with holders.

Connect the electric pump connectors.

Fill the power steering system with ELF RENAULT MATIC D2 oil.

Bleed the system by turning the steering wheel from one extreme position to the other with the engine not running.

Connect the battery.

Bleed the system by turning the steering wheel from one extreme position to the other with the engine running.

Bring the oil level in the tank up to normal (if necessary).

Check for fuel leaks.

Install:
  • left front fender liner,
  • front bumper,
  • left front wheel.

When replacing the electric pump unit, program the power steering ECU.
