Removal



Place the vehicle on a two-post lift.

Remove the engine oil pan guard.

1 - Low pressure pipe between the power steering pump and the reservoir



Using a syringe, remove fluid from the power steering pump reservoir.

2 - High pressure pipe between the power steering pump and the steering gear



Clamp the power steering pump supply line

Remove:
  • left front wheel,
  • left front fender liner.

3 - Low pressure pipe between the power steering reservoir and the steering gear



Using a syringe, remove fluid from the power steering pump reservoir.

Remove:
  • left front wheel,
  • left front fender liner.

Unscrew the nut (1) of the low pressure pipe on the tank using the tool (Mot. 1448).

Disconnect the low pressure line from the tank.

Disconnect the low pressure line from the tank.


Models with heater



Loosen the clamp (3) using the tool (Mot. 1448).



Loosen the clamp (3) using the tool (Mot. 1448).


Disconnect the low pressure line from the power steering pump.

Models with air conditioning



Loosen the clamp (5) using the tool (Mot. 1448).

Loosen the clamp (5) using the tool (Mot. 1448).


Disconnect the low pressure line from the power steering pump.

All models



Remove the low pressure line between the power steering pump and the reservoir.

2 - High pressure pipe between the power steering pump and the steering gear



Disconnect the wiring harness from the pressure sensor.

Models with heater



Loosen the high pressure line bolt (8) on the multi-function bracket.

Remove:
  • nipple (7) of the high pressure line from the power steering pump,
  • high pressure line from the power steering pump.

Models with air conditioning



Remove:
  • nipple (10) of the high pressure line from the power steering pump,
  • high pressure line from the power steering pump.

All models



Remove:
  • bolt (11) for fastening the high-pressure pipeline to the gearbox,
  • bolt (12) for fastening the high-pressure pipeline to the pendulum support on the gearbox.

Remove:
  • front shield heat shield mounting bolts,
  • steering gear heat shield,
  • nipple (13) for fastening the high-pressure pipeline to the steering gear,
  • high pressure line on the steering gear,
  • high pressure power steering line.

3 - Low pressure pipe between the power steering reservoir and the steering gear



Disconnect the low pressure line at point (14).



Loosen the clamp (15) using the tool (Mot. 1448).

Disconnect the low pressure line from the tank.

Remove:
  • bolt (16) on the low pressure pipeline mount on the subframe,
  • steering gear heat shield mounting bolts,
  • heat shield.

Remove:
  • nipple (17) for fastening the low pressure pipeline to the steering gear,
  • low pressure line between the power steering reservoir and the steering gear.

Installation



Always replace the power steering line O-rings.

1 - Low pressure pipe between the power steering reservoir and the steering gear



Install:
  • low pressure line between the power steering reservoir and the steering gear,
  • low pressure pipe mounting nipple on the steering gear,
  • bolt for fastening the low pressure pipeline to the subframe.

Tighten to the specified torque:
  • low pressure pipe fastening nipple to the steering gear (21 Nm),
  • bolt for fastening the low pressure pipeline to the subframe (21 Nm).

Install:
  • steering gear heat shield,
  • front shield heat shield mounting bolts,
  • low pressure pipe to the tank,
  • clamp using the device (Mot. 1448).

Install the low pressure pipe into the electric fan unit.

2 - High pressure pipe between the power steering pump and the steering gear



Install:
  • high pressure line between the power steering pump and the steering gear,
  • high pressure pipe mounting nipple on the steering gear,
  • high pressure line nipple to the power steering pump,
  • high pressure pipe bolt to the pendulum support on the gearbox,
  • high pressure pipe bolt on gearbox.

Tighten to the specified torque:
  • high pressure line nipple on the power steering pump (21 Nm),
  • high pressure line nipple on the steering gear (21 Nm),
  • bolt for fastening the high-pressure pipeline to the steering gear (21 Nm),
  • bolt for fastening the high-pressure pipeline to the pendulum support on the gearbox (21 Nm).

Install:
  • thermal protection of the steering gear,
  • heat shield bolts.

Connect the wiring harness to the pressure switch.

3 - Low pressure pipe between the power steering pump and the reservoir



Install:
  • low pressure line between the power steering pump and the reservoir,
  • low pressure line to the power steering pump,
  • low pressure pipe to the tank,
  • holders using the device (Mot. 1448).

Install:
  • left front fender liner,
  • left front wheel,
  • protection of the engine oil pan.

Remove the clamp.



Fill the power steering system with ELF RENAULT MATIC D2 oil.

Bleed the system by turning the steering wheel from one extreme position to the other, first with the engine off.

Bleed the system by turning the steering wheel from one extreme position to the other with the engine running.

If necessary, restore the level of working fluid in the power steering reservoir to normal.

Check for fuel leaks.
