Removal



Place the vehicle on a two-post lift.

Remove:
  • top engine cover,
  • protective screen.

1 - Low pressure pipe between the power steering pump and the reservoir



Models with heater



Using a syringe, remove fluid from the power steering pump reservoir.

2 - High pressure pipe between the power steering pump and the steering gear



Models with heater



Clamp the power steering pump supply line

Models with air conditioning



Using a syringe, remove fluid from the power steering pump reservoir.

Remove the front bumper.

All models



Remove:
  • left front wheel,
  • left front fender liner.

3 - Low pressure pipe between the power steering pump and the reservoir

Clamp the power steering pump supply line

Models with air conditioning



Using a syringe, remove fluid from the power steering pump reservoir.

Remove:
  • left front wheel,
  • left front fender liner.

1 - Low pressure pipe between the power steering pump and the reservoir



Models with heater



Disconnect the low pressure line at point (1).

Loosen the clamps (2) using the tool (Mot 1448).



Loosen the clamps (2) using the tool (Mot 1448).


Disconnect the low pressure line from the power steering pump and reservoir.

Remove the low pressure line.

Remove the low pressure line.


2 - High pressure pipe between the power steering pump and the steering gear



Models with heater



Remove:
  • bolt (3) for fastening the high pressure line to the power steering pump,
  • high pressure pipeline nipple (4).

Disconnect the high pressure line from the power steering pump.



Models with air conditioning



Remove:
  • bolt (5) for fastening the high pressure line to the power steering pump,
  • high pressure line from the electric power steering pump.

Remove:
  • high pressure pipeline mounting bolt (6) on the gearbox pendulum support,
  • bolt (7) for fastening the high-pressure pipeline to the gearbox,
  • steering gear heat shield mounting bolts,
  • heat shield.

Remove:
  • nipple (8) for fastening the high-pressure pipeline to the steering gear,
  • high pressure line between the power steering pump and the steering gear.

3 - Low pressure pipe between power steering and reservoir



Models with heater



Disconnect the low pressure line at point (9).



Remove:
  • clamp (10) using the tool (Mot. 1448),
  • low pressure pipe from the tank.

Models with air conditioning



Remove:
  • clamp (11) using the tool (Mot. 1448),
  • low pressure pipe from the tank.
  • low pressure pipe clamp bolt (12) on the subframe,
  • heat shield mounting bolts,
  • heat shield.

Remove:
  • nipple (13) for fastening the low pressure pipeline to the steering gear,
  • low pressure line between the power steering reservoir and the steering gear.

Installation



Always replace the power steering line O-rings.

1 - Low pressure pipe between power steering and reservoir



Install:
  • low pressure line between the power steering pump and the reservoir,
  • holders using the device (Mot. 1448).

Install the low pressure pipe into the fan assembly.

2 - High pressure pipe between the power steering pump and the steering gear



Install:
  • high pressure line between the power steering pump and the steering gear,
  • high pressure pipe mounting nipple on the steering gear.

Tighten the high pressure line nipple on the steering gear to the specified torque (21 Nm).

Tighten the bolts securing the high pressure line to the gearbox.

Tighten the high pressure line mounting bolts on the gearbox to the specified torque (21 Nm).

Models with air conditioning



Install:
  • high pressure line on the electric power steering pump,
  • bolt securing the high pressure line to the power steering electric pump.

Tighten to the specified torque:
  • high pressure line nipple on the power steering pump unit (21 Nm),
  • bolt for fastening the high pressure line to the power steering pump (21 Nm).

Models with heater



Install:
  • high pressure line nipple to the power steering pump,
  • bolt securing the high pressure line to the power steering pump.

Tighten to the specified torque:
  • high pressure line nipple on the power steering pump (21 Nm),
  • bolt for fastening the high pressure line to the power steering pump (21 Nm).

3 - Low pressure pipe between the power steering reservoir and the steering gear



Install:
  • low pressure line between the power steering reservoir and the steering gear,
  • low pressure pipe mounting nipple on the steering gear.

Tighten the low pressure line nipple on the steering gear to the specified torque (21 Nm).



Install:
  • low pressure pipe to the tank,
  • clamp using the device (Mot. 1448).

Models with heater



Install the low pressure pipe into the fan assembly.

Install:
  • left front fender liner,
  • front bumper,
  • left front wheel,
  • engine oil pan protection,
  • top engine cover.

Remove the clamp.

Fill the power steering system with ELF RENAULT MATIC D2 oil.

Bleed the system by turning the steering wheel from one extreme position to the other, first with the engine off.

Bleed the system by turning the steering wheel from one extreme position to the other with the engine running.

If necessary, restore the level of working fluid in the power steering reservoir to normal.

Check for fuel leaks.
