The oil seal is replaced on a removed automatic transmission after removing the torque converter.
Replacement procedure:
- remove the gearbox;
Remove the torque converter carefully, if possible in the strict axial direction.
Be careful - there is a lot of working fluid in the torque converter, which may leak out during the removal process.
- using a special tool or a flat-head screwdriver, carefully remove the seal from the torque converter, being careful not to scratch the metal bushing;
- press the new seal in with the working edges facing inward;
- lubricate the working lips of the seal with clean working fluid for the gearbox and install the torque converter on the gearbox shaft;
- make sure the torque converter is properly connected to the shaft splines and install the gearbox in place.
