General information
- Brake fluid - SAE J1703, DOT4
The brake system is dual-circuit with a brake force compensator. All brake pipe connections are tightened to 14 Nm.
The drain fitting of the brake caliper is tightened with a torque of 6-8 Nm. The circuit connection diagram is shown in the figure.
Brake system diagram
The service brake system is hydraulically actuated, consisting of two independent circuits divided diagonally. The pressure of the working fluid in both circuits is created by the force of the driver's foot, which is increased by means of a vacuum booster. If one of the circuits fails (depressurization, mechanical failure) the vehicle can still be braked by the second braking circuit, albeit with some increase in stopping distance.
The service brake system includes the main brake cylinder, wheel brakes, brake booster, anti-lock braking system (ABS), hoses and pipelines connecting the listed nodes.
The parking brake system with a mechanical cable drive acts on the rear wheels.
In the brake circuits, the working fluid comes from the main brake cylinder located in the engine compartment. Above the main brake cylinder, a brake system compensation tank is installed, which serves to fill the brake fluid system.
Front brakes disc type with single-cylinder caliper with «floating» caliper that creates equal pressure on both brake pads.
Rear drum type brakes with one front and one rear pad, actuated by one double-piston cylinder. There is a self-adjusting mechanism for automatic pad wear compensation.
When the pads are worn, the mechanism is activated and extends the effective length of the spacer bar, reducing the gap between the pads and the drum.
The control lamps for the parking brake, insufficient level of the working fluid in the tank and the ABS system are displayed on the Dashboard.

Warnings
When driving on wet roads, it is recommended to periodically brake the vehicle in order to dry and clean the brake linings to restore the effectiveness of the brakes.
As a result of the functioning of the brake mechanisms, dust from the brake linings is generated, which is harmful to health. Carry out all work on cleaning the brake mechanisms in respiratory protection equipment - respirators.
