General information

  • Brake fluid - SAE J1703, DOT4

The brake system is dual-circuit with a brake force compensator. All brake pipe connections are tightened to a torque of 14 Nm.

The brake caliper drain nipple is tightened with a torque of 6-8 Nm. The circuit connection diagram is shown in the figure.

Brake system diagram

The service brake system is equipped with a hydraulic drive consisting of two independent circuits divided diagonally. The pressure of the working fluid in both circuits is created by the force of the driver's foot, which is increased by means of a vacuum booster. If one of the circuits fails, (depressurization, mechanical failure) the car can still be braked using the second brake circuit, although with a slight increase in the braking distance.

The service brake system includes the master brake cylinder, wheel brakes, brake booster, anti-lock braking system (ABS), hoses and pipes connecting the listed components.

The mechanical cable-operated parking brake system acts on the rear wheels.

The working fluid enters the brake circuits from the main brake cylinder, located in the engine compartment. A compensation tank of the brake system is installed above the main brake cylinder, which serves to fill the system with brake fluid.

The front brakes are disc type with a single-cylinder caliper with a "floating" bracket, creating equal pressure on both brake pads.

The rear brakes are drum type with one front and one rear shoe, driven by one two-piston cylinder. There is a self-adjusting mechanism for automatic compensation of shoe wear.

When the pads wear out, the mechanism is activated and extends the effective length of the spacer bar, reducing the gap between the pads and the drum.

The instrument panel has indicator lights for the parking brake, low fluid level in the reservoir, and the ABS system.

Dimensions of the main components of the brake system

  • The diameter of the main brake cylinder is 20.6 mm

  • minimum - 2.0 mm

Warnings

When driving on wet roads, it is recommended to periodically brake the vehicle in order to dry and clean the brake linings to restore the effectiveness of the brakes.

As a result of the operation of the brake mechanisms, dust from the brake linings is formed, which is harmful to health. All work on cleaning the brake mechanisms should be carried out in respiratory protection equipment - respirators.
