The windshield and rear glass are tightly clamped in rubber seals, which are placed in the corresponding body openings of the car. Special glue is used to securely fix the glass. Replacing such fixed glass is a rather complex task associated with significant time costs and is beyond the skill level of the average amateur mechanic.
It is especially difficult to achieve a tight fit of the glass without sufficient experience, and there is also a very high risk of damage (the latter applies in particular to laminated windshields). In view of the above, the authors of this Guide recommend that car owners entrust the replacement of fixed glass to car service specialists.
