Top hatch — general information (Renault Megane 1)

The mechanism of the upper hatch drive is quite complex, and therefore its repair, replacement or adjustment require a preliminary examination. To dismantle the upper hatch assembly, it is necessary to remove the ceiling trim of the cabin, which in itself is not an easy task. In view of the above, in case of problems associated with the malfunction of the upper hatch, seek help from qualified car service specialists.



On models equipped with an electric drive for the upper hatch, in the event of failure of the drive electric motor, the condition of the corresponding fuse should be checked first. If it is not possible to replace a blown fuse, the hatch can be opened manually by turning the motor spindle with a rod key (refer to the accompanying illustration).

To access the spindle, it is necessary to remove the left ceiling light, or the entire upper console (depending on the vehicle configuration, - see Chapter On-board electrical equipment).
