Tension procedure
Install the timing belt on a cold engine (after the engine has cooled down to ambient temperature).
Make sure the tensioner is properly seated on pin 1.
Make sure that the crankshaft is locked with lock Mot. 1054.
The groove 4 of the crankshaft should be located 2 in the middle between the two ribs of the rock cover of the cylinder block, while the coil 3 on the crankshaft toothed pulley should be shifted one tooth to the left of the vertical axis of the engine.
Fit a new timing belt onto the pulleys, aligning the marks on the timing belt with the marks on the timing and crankshaft pulleys.
Press the tension roller against the rom-nu by screwing in bolt 2 on the tension roller bracket.
Remove lock Mot. 1054.
Install the crankshaft pulley bolt with washer 4 supplied with tool Mot. 1543.
Note. Remember to remove the washer when installing the crankshaft pulley.
Install tool Mot. 1543 and cap 1 on the crankshaft pulley bolt.
Apply pretension between the crankshaft sprocket and the idler pulley using tool Mot. 1543 and cap 1 using a torque wrench set to 11 Nm.
Install instrument sensor Mot. 1505.
Bolt 2 tighten the belt until the required tension value of 88±3 Hz is obtained.
Tighten the nut securing the tension roller axle to a torque of 10 Nm,
Rotate the crankshaft two turns.
Reattach lock Mot. 1054 and set the timing gear to the position corresponding to the setting of the valve timing, (start pressing the latch half a tooth until the mark on the camshaft pulley aligns with the mark previously applied on the inner timing case so as not to accidentally fall into the crankshaft balance hole).
Remove retainer Mot. 1054 Apply pretension between the crankshaft sprocket and the idler pulley using tool Mot. 1543 and cap 1 using a torque wrench set to 11 Nm.
Install instrument sensor Mot. 1505.
Make sure the tension value is 85±3 Hz, if not, repeat the adjustment.
Tighten the sprinkling nut of the tension roller axle to 50 Nm.
Note. Strictly observe the specified tightening torque for the sprinkling nut of the tension roller axle. to avoid loosening that could damage the engine.
Attention! Remove the washer 4 supplied with tool Mot, 1643, by installing the crankshaft pulley.
