Required special tool
- T. Ag. 960-02 Puller for bearing rings and bushings.
- T. Ag. 960-05 Tool for replacing needle bearings.
Removing
1. The operation is performed after removing the rear axle and separating both beam rods.
2. Remove from the female beam (left) bearing outer ring 6 with puller T. Ag. 960.
3. Remove the bearing inner race 7 using the small tip of the extractor T. Ag. 960.
4. Cut the bearing rings on the male beam rod (right) using a flat abrasive wheel, avoiding touching the surface of the rod.
5. Widen the slot in the bearing races with a chisel, then remove the races.
6. Cut and remove O-ring 5.
Installation
1. Use T. Ag. 960-05 for installing needle bearings and bearing rings.
2. Install the small needle bearing on drift A.
3. Install Drift A into the Beam Rod, using Drift B as a guide.
4. Using a press, press arbor A flush with plane 2 of arbor B.
5. Install the large needle bearing on driver B.
6. Install Drift B into the Beam Rod using Drift A as a guide.
7. Using a press, press in the bearing ring until the shoulder of the mandrel B touches the end of the beam rod.
8. Remove mandrels B and A.
9. Install a new O-ring 5 on the male beam bar.
10. Bearing rings have a lead-in chamfer on one side. It is important to observe the direction of installation of the rings: chamfer 4 must be oriented as shown in the figure in order to provide sufficient bearing area when pressing on the ring.
11. Install the large bearing race in drift D.
12. Install the assembly consisting of mandrels D and C on the beam bar.
13. Press mandrel C together with mandrel D flush with end 3 of the beam bar.
14. Install the small bearing race in drift C.
15. Install arbor C on the stem, using arbor D as a guide.
16. Using a press, press the mandrel C flush with end 3 of the beam bar.
17. Remove mandrels C and D.
Attention! When pressing parts, if the load was applied to the supports of the beam, you must make sure that the bars of the beam are correctly located in their supports (because they can be moved). Re-align if necessary.
18. Combine both beam rods.
Note: Needle bearings are filled with lifetime grease and do not require any further lubrication.
19. Connect and establish a beam of the back bridge on the car.
