Note. This method is used for copper pipelines with a diameter of 4.7 mm.
This method is not applicable:
- for hybrid pipelines (rigid tube + hose);
- for pipelines with a diameter of 6 mm and 8 mm.
Cut the tubing to the recommended length using a tubing cutter.
Install nuts or bolts on the pipeline before forming the rivets.
Rivet making
To make a rivet, place the rivet press in a vise.
Install the pipeline in the rivet press.
Adjust the length of the pipeline to obtain the desired shape.
Torque tighten the tip of the press (40 Nm).
Visually check:
- uniformity of rivet diameters;
- centering of rivets relative to the axis of the pipeline.
Visually verify that the inner diameter of the pipeline has not become oval.
Use a vernier caliper to check that the diameter of the back panel is not oval.
Correct the diameter if (X1) = (X2).
Preparation of the pipeline before bending
Blow out the pipeline in both directions with a pneumatic spray gun.
Install plugs on the bolts or nuts at the ends of the pipeline.
Install the standard pipeline on a flat base plate, the length of which is equal to the length of the pipeline.
Measure dimensions (HZ) in mm all bends, between «centers of radii of all bends» (1) old pipeline.
Attention. In order not to weaken the pipeline, either bend once or bend, gradually increasing the bend (those. reducing the bending radius). Do not install rigid piping on the vehicle that may have been bent and then bent back to achieve the correct bend radius.
Note. During the bending operation, it is necessary to slightly exceed the required angle to compensate for the elasticity of the material.
Give the pipeline the desired shape with a bender, one bend after another, respecting the original shape of the pipeline.
Flexion test
Check out-of-round deviation of outer diameter at the center of the bend radius (2) using a caliper (the deviation of the outer diameter from the shape of the circle is normal if it is flattened by less than 10%):
- nominal pipeline diameter: 4.75 mm;
- minimum diameter after bending: 4.30 mm.
Note. When installing a rigid brake line:
- observe the original laying as far as possible;
- adjust the route of the pipeline laying by hand when installing into the clamps.
Attention. Contact points between the rigid brake line and the surroundings can cause damage to the line. To avoid this contact, manually adjust the route of the pipeline.
Torque tighten the brake pipe mounting bolts 8 Nm.
Torque tighten the fittings under the bottom of the body (external/internal thread) 6 Nm.
