Attention. Before any work on the compressor, charge the air conditioning system to the required refrigerant level. If the system malfunction still occurs: perform the following checks.
Preliminary check
Check for damage or deformation of all system elements and connections.
Make sure the pulley is not impacted or damaged.
Check if the compressor clutch turns on when 12 V is applied to its winding.
Check the condition of the power wire and connector.
Check compressor housing for cracks (at the compressor mounting points).
Check the inlet and outlet of the A/C compressor for damage.
Leaks
Noise at work
Functional error
Pressure values measured in the air conditioning circuit (the car is not moving, the engine is idling)
Oil level control
Attention. Compressor oil is very hygroscopic, use only new oil when working.
Three options need to be distinguished:
- work with contour (no leaks);
- small leak;
- big leak.
Working with a contour (no leaks)
Using a charge and recirculation unit not equipped with an oil separator:
- drain the liquid from the low pressure circuit as slowly as possible so as not to spill oil out;
- liquid refrigerant charge is made without adding oil.
Using a charge and recirculation unit equipped with an oil separator:
- drain the liquid refrigerant from the air conditioner circuit following the instructions given in the installation instructions;
- measure the amount of oil collected;
- refill with the same amount of oil that was collected.
Small leak
Slow leaks do not result in loss of oil, it is enough to use the same strategy as in the case of working on a circuit that does not have leaks.
Big leak
This type of failure can lead to loss of oil, as well as opening the circuit to atmosphere. Perform the following operations:
- replace the replaceable filter and dryer element (if necessary);
- remove as much oil as possible (when replacing the element that causes the work).
Before filling or while filling the circuit with liquid R134.a enter 110 cm3 new oil in the circuit.
Replacing elements of the air conditioning circuit (air conditioner compressor)
Remove the A/C compressor (see below).
Remove oil from the compressor, measure the amount of oil collected.
Remove oil from new compressor (supplied, filled), to leave the same amount of new oil as the old compressor.
Filling the circuit with liquid is carried out without adding oil.
Oil Change - Bay (air conditioner compressor)
Note. The following are the operations you need to perform (after removing the compressor).
Remove the fill plug (1).
Turn the compressor over and let the oil drain out.
Install plugs at the compressor inlet and outlet.
Install the compressor vertically (compressor clutch up).
Rotate the whole knot (2) ten turns (leakage of oil in the head).
Remove the plugs.
Let the oil flow out.
Measure the amount of oil collected.
Compare all collected oil with the amount recommended by the manufacturer.
Note. Different amount of oil will remain in the compressor (depending on compressor type).
Pour in the same amount of oil as was collected (filling hole).
Install drain plug (1) (new seal and clean bearing surfaces).
Torque the plug (1) - 20 Nm.
Install plugs at the inlet and outlet of the compressor (in case of work with the production circuit).
