Special tool required
- MS 554-01 Adapter for device MS 554-05.
- MS 554-06 Adapter for device MS 554-05.
- MS 554-07 Cooling system leak test kit.
1. Replace the expansion tank valve with the MS 554-01 adapter.
2. Connect the MS 554-07 device to it.
3. Warm up the engine, then stop it.
4. Pump the pump to create pressure in the system.
5. Stop pumping as soon as the pressure is 0.1 bar below the control pressure set for the valve.
6. The pressure should not drop, otherwise look for the leak.
7. Gradually unscrew the MS 554-07 fitting to relieve pressure in the cooling system, then remove the MS 554-01 adapter and install the expansion tank valve in place, placing a new gasket underneath it.

8. If the liquid passes freely through the expansion tank valve (brown color), then it should be replaced. Screw the MS 554-06 adapter onto the MS 554-07 device and install the valve being tested onto it. Pump the pump to increase the pressure; it should stabilize at the calibration pressure level of 1.2±0.1 bar.
