Removal


  • Remove the hub - brake drum assembly.
  • Disconnect the line from the wheel cylinder.
  • Remove the brake shoe backplate mounting stud retaining nut, marking it to return it to its original position.
  • Remove the six bolts securing the brake shoe support shield to the hub journal. Hang the support shield to the rear suspension beam.
  • Remove the ABS sensor mounting bolt.

Installation


  • Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
  • If the trunnion bolts are reused, they should be coated with Loctite FRENBLOC.
  • Tighten the trunnion mounting bolts in the sequence 1-2-3-4-5-6 to a torque of 30 Nm (Fig. 11.5).
  • Tighten the hub nut to 170 Nm.
  • Remove air from the brake system
