When replacing a brake drum, be sure to replace the brake drum on the opposite side.
When replacing the brake drum, be sure to replace the brake pads.
Removing
Place the car on a two post lift.
Release the parking brake.
Remove rear wheels.
Remove plugs from brake drums (1).
Remove:
- rear brake drum nuts (2),
- rear brake drums with tools if necessary.
Installation
Check the inside diameter of the brake drum.
Brake drum nuts must be replaced.
Parts subject to mandatory replacement: rear brake drum plug.
Replace defective parts.
With a pressure cleaner, clean:
- brake pads, brake drums,
- brake drum,
- hub axle.
Note: Do not apply grease to the following components:
- drum,
- hub axle,
- nut,
- rear brake drum cover.
Adjust the parking brake if the lever does not move when the parking brake lever is moved between the first and second sector teeth.
Install:
- rear wheel brake drums
- rear brake drum nuts
- brake drum caps.
Torque tighten the rear brake drum mounting nut (280 Nm), turning the drum while tightening the nut.
Install the rear wheels.
Press the brake pedal several times to set the pistons of the wheel mechanisms to the working position.
Examination
Place the car on a two post lift.
Remove:
- rear wheel,
- rear brake drum.
Install a brake drum caliper to measure the inside diameter of the brake drum.
Measure the inner diameter of the brake drum along perpendicular axes (1) And (2).
Compare the obtained values with the manufacturer's data.
If necessary, replace the rear brake drums.
Install the rear wheel.
