Noises in the gearbox
Over time, the transmission may become noisy.
1. First, check the oil level in the gearbox.
2. If a roaring noise appears in a certain gear or the sound changes when the accelerator pedal is depressed or released, then the corresponding pair of gears that are engaged is worn out.
3. Noises in all gears indicate that the fault is in the main gear or in the bearings of the drive shaft.
4. Rough, grinding noises that can only be heard when the gearbox is warm, clearly indicate a malfunction of the synchronizer blocking rings. With thinning oil, these noises are created by a faulty synchronizer blocking ring.
