This speedometer registers the speed, to some extent, electrically, namely by producing eddy currents that twist an aluminum cylinder around the axis of the pointer, overcoming the resistance of a spiral spring. The speedometer does not measure the exact distance or speed, it "counts" the revolutions of the speedometer cable drive in the gearbox housing and converts them into kilometers. How many revolutions of the cable a car needs to travel one kilometer on the road depends on the size of the tires and the gear ratio of the axles. The speedometer drive transformation ratio is 21:19. A shaking speedometer needle usually indicates that the speedometer cable has a kink and will soon break. In some cars, the cable drive in the gearbox will also break.

Removal the speedometer cable

1. Remove the combination instrument.

2. Disconnect the speedometer cable from the combination instrument cluster and remove it from the transmission by squeezing its retaining clips.

3. Disconnect the speedometer pin connection.

4. Remove the speedometer cable with the rubber tip from the front wall.

5. When installing, insert the cable into the front wall without kinks or bends and pay attention to the correct position of the rubber tip.
