1. Lower the window on the driver's side. Stand next to the car.
2. Turn the steering wheel back and forth briefly through the window.
3. Does the front wheel immediately start to turn from a straight position? Watch the rim as the bouncy tire can absorb some of the turn before the wheel starts turning.
4. If the steering is in good condition and has play, then this play must be adjusted. These works are carried out in a car repair shop, since only there is the necessary measuring device.
5. If the steering has no play when turning the wheel from a straight position, but it is clamped when turning a tighter turn, then the control gear rack is worn and the steering gear must be replaced.
