Muffler repair (Renault Symbol 2)

The exhaust pipe is of a monoblock design, i.e. it has no detachable connections to the muffler. If it is necessary to replace the main or auxiliary muffler (spare parts are supplied separately) make two marks on the pipe at a distance of 45 mm (P1 and P2) from the cut point (D).



1. Using the cutter Mot. 1199-01, cut the pipe between the marks.

2. Carefully install the repair sleeve.

Note:

• Cutter Mot. 1199-01 is designed for cutting pipes with wall thickness up to 2 mm.
• Repair bushings are available for sale.

3. Apply sealing mastic to the ends of the pipe (number 7701421161), install the pipes into the sleeve.

4. Install the pipes into the sleeve until the internal projections stop.



5. The bushing nut must be installed in such a way as to avoid contact with the body and other nearby parts.

6. Lightly tighten the bushing nut and center the pipe. Tighten the nut completely.

7. The bushing nut has a groove (A). Correct tightening of the nut corresponds to a light click and the groove becomes invisible (tightening torque about 25 Nm).
