Anti-lock brake system prevents slippage (blocking) wheels on the road surface during heavy braking, thereby eliminating the skidding of the car and contributing to a significant increase in its stability and controllability. The system automatically turns on when the engine is started. The switching mode is controlled by a lamp in the instrument cluster, which should go out after a few seconds.
If the lamp does not go out or lights up while driving, then there is a malfunction in the ABS system. In this case, the vehicle's braking capability is fully preserved, but without the anti-lock wheels.
The ABS system starts when the vehicle reaches a speed of 3–5 km/h.
