Removal



Place the vehicle on a two-post lift.

Remove the top engine covers.

Disconnect the wires from the battery terminals, starting with the negative terminal.

Note: To remove the torque converter turbine speed and road speed sensors, it is not necessary to drain the oil or remove the automatic transmission.


Note: When replacing the sensor, be sure to remove the modular connector.


Remove the engine sump guard.

Remove the connector shown by the arrow in Figure 3.167 from the gearbox bracket.

Remove the torque converter turbine speed sensor (fig. 3.168).

Caution: Protect the connector from damage by packing it in a waterproof plastic bag.


Removal the speed sensor

Disconnect the sensor connector (fig. 3.169).

Remove the speed sensor (fig. 3.170).

Installation



Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.

Tighten to the specified torque:
  • torque converter turbine speed sensor mounting bolt (10 Nm);
  • speed sensor mounting bolt (44 Nm).
