Checking the tightness of wheel bolts (Renault Megane 1)

1. Remove the wheel cap (where is available) and loosen each wheel bolt slightly. Jack up the vehicle and remove the wheel. Make sure the threads and mating surfaces are clean and undamaged.

2. Clean each wheel thoroughly, then inspect the inside sidewall of the wheel rim for signs of corrosion or other damage. Make sure all installed counterweights are securely fastened.

3. Apply a small amount of anti-seize compound to the threads. Install the wheel and moderately tighten the bolts to the torque specified in the Specifications.
