Removal
1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
2. On models with rear power windows, remove the window control switch panel from the rear section of the center console.

3. On models with manual rear windows, remove the ashtray from the rear console section (refer to the accompanying illustration).

4a. On all models, remove the retaining nut.

4b. Remove the rear section of the console by carefully sliding the parking brake lever through it (refer to the illustrations).

5. On models with manual transmission, release the edge of the gearshift boot from the front section of the center console (refer to the accompanying illustration).
6. On models with AT, loosen the mounting screw and remove the handle from the end of the selector lever. Carefully pry the lever trim out of the console and remove it from the car.

7a. On all models, remove the mounting screws

7b. Remove the front section of the center console, disconnecting the electrical connectors as access becomes available (refer to the illustrations).
Installation
1. Installation is carried out in the reverse order. Make sure that the electrical wiring is laid correctly and that the components are securely fastened.
