The centre console needs to be removed, for example, to provide access to the airbag and seat belt tensioner control unit.
Removal
1. Remove the ashtray from the parking brake lever cover. In MEGANE cars with a "coupe" body, instead of the ashtray, you need to remove the switch block A of the rear door vents and disconnect the plugs (see illustration).

2. Unscrew screw A, which secures the parking brake lever cover, and remove the cover by pushing it upwards (see illustration).

3. Remove the protective cover from the gear shift lever. If the car is equipped with an automatic transmission, remove the gear shift lever cover.
4. Unscrew the three screws B and remove the center console (see illustration).

Installation
5. Place the center console back in place and secure with screws.
6. Install the parking brake lever cover and secure with the screw.
7. Install the ashtray or, if it is a coupe, connect the plugs and secure the switch block to the parking brake lever cover.
8. Put the protective cover on the gear shift lever. For vehicles with automatic transmission, install the gear shift lever cover.
