The switch transmits information to the control unit that the accelerator pedal is pressed all the way down, overcoming the resistance at the end of its travel. The need to increase torque leads to forced switching of the automatic transmission to a lower gear.
The switch is located under the accelerator pedal and connects to a connector on the instrument panel.
The switch closes when the pedal is pressed all the way down, overcoming the resistance at the end of its travel.
The position of the switch is adjusted by adjusting the throttle actuator.
