Do not clean these parts or flush the cooling system with a caustic soda solution or alkaline compounds, as this may cause corrosion of light-alloy elements and leaks. Storage of removed radiators may be carried out without any special measures for no more than 48 hours. If this period is exceeded, soldering flux particles present in the radiator for technological reasons, as well as dichloride compounds of the coolant previously in the radiator, when in contact with air, lead to oxidation of aluminum radiator parts, which may lead to leaks.
When storing for more than 48 hours, the radiator must:
- rinse thoroughly with water, dry with compressed air and seal all openings tightly;
- keep it filled with coolant.
