Despite the wear of the brake pads, the brake pedal travel does not increase, since the piston of the brake cylinder, moving out, provides a constant equal distance between the pads and the brake disc. Therefore, it is impossible to determine the degree of wear of the brake pads by the length of the brake pedal travel. If you service your Renault 19 yourself, you must constantly monitor the condition of the brake pads.
1. The minimum permissible thickness of the brake shoe lining together with the supporting part for all modifications of Renault 19 is 6 mm.
2. The thickness of the brake pads can only be measured accurately with the wheel removed.
3. Any rod with a diameter of 6 mm can be used for control. If the thickness of the overlay (together with the supporting part of the shoe) is 6 mm, then it is necessary to replace the front brake pads.
