Thermostat (k7J engine). 1 - Temperature sensors (depending on the configuration), 2 - Thermostat housing, 3 - Cylinder head, 4 - Thermostat, 5 - Thermostat housing cover.
Thermostat (k4J engine), located under the branch pipe indicated by the arrow in the figure.
Thermostat:
- Opening Hours - 89°C
- End of opening - 101*0
- Valve stroke - 7.5 mm
Removal the thermostat:
- drain the coolant by unscrewing the drain plug of the cylinder block;
- loosen the clamp and remove the hose from the thermostat cover;

- unscrew the bolts securing the thermostat cover and remove it (Figure 3.88);

- remove the sealing ring and take the thermostat out of the housing (Figure 3.89).
To check, place the thermostat in a container with water. Heat the water, monitoring the temperature with a thermometer. Visually note the opening of the thermostat valve when the water boils and closing when it cools to 89°C. If the valve does not work in any of the positions, the thermostat must be replaced.
The thermostat is installed in the reverse order of removal, replacing the sealing ring. Start the engine and make sure there is no coolant leak.
