Removal



1. Disconnect the battery.

2. Remove the steering wheel, see section "Steering".

Caution: On models with airbags, read the instructions for handling the airbag unit.


3. Remove:
  • Steering column covers;
  • "A"rack linings;
  • Upper trim (1) of the front panel;

Upper trim (1) of the front panel;

  • Instrument cluster;
  • Combination switch on the steering column;
  • Central console;
  • Heater control panel (3);
  • Radio;
  • Passenger airbag unit (if installed);
  • Steering column.

4. Remove the seven bolts securing the main trim panel to the front panel.

5. Loosen the heater bolt (A).

6. Remove the front panel trim.

7. Unscrew the heater bolt (B) and pull the heater out of the frame.

In the engine compartment:



8. Clamp the heater hoses and disconnect them from the heater.

9. Using compressed air, blow out any remaining coolant from the heater radiator.

10. Using the puller Ele. 1294-01, remove the wiper blade arms.

11. Remove the ventilation system air duct seal and air intake grille.

12. Remove the heater fan.

13. Unscrew the heater mounting bolts (1).

In the salon:



14. Remove the heater.

15. To replace the heater radiator, unfasten the four clips (E) and remove the radiator.

Installation



Installation is carried out in reverse order.

Check the correct routing of cables and fastening of air ducts (preventing the occurrence of extraneous noise).

Caution: Before connecting the airbag module, perform a passive restraint system check:

  • Turn on the ignition and make sure that the passive restraint system indicator is on.
  • Connect the airbag connector: the indicator should go out.
  • Turn off the ignition, install the airbag module in place. Tighten the mounting bolts to 5 Nm.
  • Turn on the ignition: the indicator should light up and go out after about three seconds.
  • If there are deviations from the indicator operation description, troubleshoot the passive safety system. Neglecting to check the system may result in an accident.
