General information about the cylinder head (Renault Symbol 1)

The cylinder head is aluminum with two camshafts and 16 valves. The camshafts rotate in six plain bearings. The cylinder head cover is used as the upper bearing caps. The camshafts are driven from the toothed pulley of the crankshaft by a rubber belt, which also drives the water pump. The camshafts act on the valves by means of hydraulic tappets through roller rocker arms located under the camshafts in the cylinder head.
