Description
The side curtain airbag module or passenger head airbag module is installed under the headliner.
The module includes:
- inflatable chamber in the form of a curtain;
- pyrotechnic gas generator with igniter (located at the rear of the block).
This unit is non-disassemblable.
When deployed, the curtain airbag releases the headliner retaining clips.
Note: This system is activated when the ignition is turned on.
Removal the module
Attention! It is prohibited to carry out any work with pyrotechnic systems (seat belt pretensioners or air bags) near a heat source or open flame, as there is a risk of them being triggered.
Before removing the curtain airbag, be sure to lock the ECU using a diagnostic tool. This will lock all ignition circuits and illuminate the airbag warning light on the instrument panel (with ignition on).
Features on cars with a "hatchback" body type
To access the gas generator 1, it is necessary to remove the rear trim.

To remove the curtain airbag unit 2 and its chamber, it is necessary to remove the roof trim.
Features on station "wagon" type vehicles
To access the gas generator 1 and replace the inflatable curtain airbag unit 2, it is necessary to remove the roof trim.
Disconnect the connector and release the airbag module wires, including the ground wire.

Note: If the system has never been activated and needs to be reinstalled after removal, do not deploy the airbag as the airbag chamber is folded in a special way.
Remove the curtain air bag assembly.
Warning! When the seat belt pretensioners or airbags are triggered, the ECU is completely blocked and the airbag warning light on the instrument panel lights up. In this case, the side impact sensor and ECU must be replaced (under the influence of ignition energy, some components lose their nominal characteristics).

Installing the module
Attention! If the side curtain airbag is triggered due to deformation or damage to the fastening elements, the fastening clamps must be replaced.
Install the curtain airbag module into place without tightening the mounting screws.
When installing the curtain airbag, first install the holder 1.
Install all clamps.
Tighten the mounting bolts 2 to the specified torque (tightening torque 8 Nm).
Connect the ground wire (E) (depending on the configuration).
Reconnect the connector, making sure it is properly secured.

Perform a check with a diagnostic tool. If all characteristics are within normal limits, unlock the ECU.
Attention! The slightest deviation from these rules may lead to failure of the pyrotechnic systems or even to their spontaneous activation.
