Fuel and exhaust systems (Renault Espace I)

Excessive fuel consumption

• The air filter element is dirty or clogged
• The carburetor or fuel injection system is faulty - depending on the model (Section 4)
• Injector faulty - diesel models (Section 4)
• Incorrect ignition timing/damaged ignition system - petrol models
• Low tire pressure

Fuel leak and/or fuel smell

• The fuel tank, pipes or connections are damaged or corroded (Section 4)

Excessive noise or smoky exhaust

• Leakage through exhaust system or manifold connections (Section 4)
• Leaking, corroded or damaged mufflers or exhaust pipe (Section 4)
• The suspensions are broken, causing the exhaust system to touch the body or suspension
