What tire sizes can be installed?
What tire sizes are allowed by Renault 19 manufacturers, you can read in the technical documentation for the car. Other tires that are not prescribed in it can be installed only if they have been included in the technical documentation of the car. The following tire sizes are standard or optional:
- 145/80 R 13 S
- 155/80 R 13 S
- 155/80 R 13 T
- 165/70 R 13 T
- 175/70 R 13 T
- 175/70 R 13 H
- 175/70 R 14 T
- 175/70 R 14 H
- 175/65 R 14 T
- 175/65 R 14 H
- 195/50 R 15 V
According to current international agreements, tire size is indicated in millimeters or, as in our case, in millimeters and inches. Tire designation and marking elements mean:
- 145, 155, 165, 175, 185, 195: unloaded tire section width in millimeters.
- /80, /70, /65, /50: Ratio of tire profile height to tire width in percent.
- R: tire carcass characteristic - radial.
- 13, 14 and 15 respectively: tire inner diameter in inches (").
- Q: Permissible top speed up to 160 km/h is the lowest speed class for M+S tyres.
- S: Max speed up to 180 km/h. H: maximum speed up to 210 km/h.
- T: Maximum speed up to 190 km/h. V: maximum speed up to 240 km/h.
Disks
Various modifications of the Renault 19 are equipped with two types of discs. These are steel rims and light metal rims (installed on request). Steel rims are available in the following sizes 5 B x 13, 5 J x 13, 5S B x 13, 5 B x 14, 5 J x 14 and 6 J x 15. Light metal rims, e.g. for Renault 19 with 16 valve motor are 6 J x 15 for 195/50 R 15 V tires
51/2, 5, 6: width of the rim profile in inches, measured at the base of the rim flange transverse to the direction of wheel travel.
B, J: molding of the wheel flange (according to standard specifications).
X: mark for deep disc.
13, 14, 15: Rim diameter in inches, bead to bead.
These designations display only the main dimensions of the wheels, but do not provide information on special data, such as the number of holes for mounting the wheel or their diameter.

- 21 is the permission number.
Special discs are called discs that do not correspond in shape or material to those produced commercially. Here are a few points that you should follow.
- There will be no problems if the dimensions of the wheels and tires are consistent with the technical documentation for the car, and the wheels are original Renault elements.
- There is no need to change the technical documentation if the dimensions of the wheels and tires match the data in the technical documentation for the car and there is an ABE for the wheels.
- Examination according to § 19 (2) StVZO (examination of details), and entering changes into the technical documentation of the car is necessary if the size of the wheels and tires does not correspond to the data in the technical documentation of the car and there is a test certificate for the wheels.
- When purchasing new special rims, the wheel ABE or test report must be enclosed.
- Before buying used, non-original rims without technical documentation, you must choose from the rim catalog whether there is an ABE for wheels for them and whether there is a test report, after setting the designations of the manufacturer and type of rims, as well as the date of their manufacture (forged or cast).
- Wheels without an ABE or a test certificate cannot be installed in Germany.
