The ABS warning light comes on when the ignition is turned on and goes out if the engine is running and the speed is over 6 km/h. If the voltage in the vehicle's network drops below 10 V, the warning light also comes on. It may also come on if the wheel makes one revolution in more than 20 seconds. Then turn off the ignition and start the engine again.

If the indicator light is constantly on, the ABS is not ready for operation. A Renault or Bosch workshop will help you find the cause. System errors are accumulated in the control unit and can be read from it using a special device. Thus, only a properly equipped Renault workshop can establish the cause of the malfunction.

In any case, you can check the contact connections of the control device, relay, speed sensors and hydraulic unit yourself.

Note: Recommendation: Even if the ABS warning light is constantly on and the ABS is not ready for use or is faulty, you can drive your Renault 19 without any worries. The braking system works in this case in the same way as on a car without ABS.
