Note: If any of the bearing bracket bushings require replacement, the complete bracket assembly must be replaced as the bushing is not sold separately.
1. Remove the trailing arm (see Chapter 13).
2. Soak the bearing bracket bushing with brake fluid to soften the rubber.
3. Remove all traces of brake fluid, then mark the position of the inner edge of the bushing on the trailing arm shaft.
4. Using a two- or tripod puller, pull the bearing bracket off the trailing arm; the rubber bushing will tear (see illustration).
15.4 Remove the bearing bracket from the trailing arm using a puller.
5. Remove the remaining inner part of the bushing by carefully cutting it with a hacksaw.
6. Thoroughly clean the trailing arm shaft from rubber and grease. File down any burrs or rough spots that might interfere with assembly. Apply a small amount of suitable grease to the inside faces of the new bushing to facilitate installation.
7. Support the trailing arm securely, then position the new bearing bracket relative to the trailing arm as shown (see illustration).

Press the bracket onto the trailing arm shaft, using the mark made earlier as a guide.
8. Temporarily set the longitudinal lever to the working position (see Chapter 13). Make sure that the distance between the centers of the inner bolt holes of the left and right brackets is 1054±1 mm (see illustration).

If this is not the case, remove the arms and adjust the bearing bracket position as necessary.
9. Install the trailing arm (see Chapter 13).
