Special tool required
- Mot. 1054 TDC locking device.
- Mot. 1135-01 Device for tensioning the timing belt of a gas distribution mechanism.
- Mot. 1273 Belt tension gauge.
- Mot. 1379 Device for fixing the engine on the subframe.
- Mot. 1386 Device for pre-tensioning the timing belt of a gas distribution mechanism.
Tightening torques, Nm
- Crankshaft pulley mounting bolt: 90+20°.
- Bolts for fastening the front right pendulum suspension bracket to the engine: 62.
- Bolts for fastening the front right pendulum suspension bracket to the body: 62.
- Timing belt tension roller fastening nut: 50.
Removal
1. Place the vehicle on a two-post lift.
2. Disconnect the battery.
3. Remove:
- front right wheel;
- alternator drive belt and power steering pump;
- crankshaft pulley.
4. Install tool Mot. 1379.

5. Remove the pendulum suspension support.
6. Remove the water pump covers and pendulum suspension supports from the cylinder head.
7. Turn the engine crankshaft in the direction of rotation so that the valve timing mechanism takes the adjustment position (the mark on the camshaft toothed pulley should be opposite the timing mark on the cylinder head cover, and the mark on the crankshaft toothed pulley should be opposite the timing mark on the front cylinder block cover), insert the Mot. 1054 locking tool into the hole in the flywheel.
8. Remove the timing belt by unscrewing nut 5.
Installation
1. Align the timing belt marks with the marks on the camshaft and crankshaft toothed pulley.
Attention! There are 5 marks on the toothed pulley of the camshaft; only the rectangular mark applied on the side of the tooth corresponds to the TDC position; the remaining marks are intended for adjusting the clearances in the valve drive mechanism.
2. Tension the timing belt (see chapter "Maintenance" chapter "Tensioning drive belts").
3. Install in the reverse order of removal.
4. Install the pendulum suspension support.
