Special tool required
- Mot. 1054 TDC locking device.
- Mot. 1202 Pliers for elastic clamps.
- Mot. 1273 Belt tension gauge.
- Mot. 1289-03 Fork for centering the pendulum support travel limiter.
- Mot. 1379 Engine mounting pads on subframe.
Tightening torques, Nm
- Crankshaft pulley mounting bolts 20 + 90°.
- Bolts for fastening the front right pendulum suspension support to the engine 62.
- Bolts for fastening the front right pendulum suspension support to the body 62.
- Timing belt tension roller axle fastening nut 50.
- Water pump mounting bolts 9.
Removal
1. Place the vehicle on a two-post lift.
2. Disconnect the battery.
3. Remove the timing belt.
4. Remove the power steering pump drive pulley (if it is installed).
5. Unscrew the upper generator mounting bolt and unscrew the lower bolt.
6. Loosen the mounting bolts on the cylinder block of the power steering pipeline.
7. Loosen the mounting bolts on the power steering pump bracket (move the pump and power steering line to the side).
8. Power steering pump bracket.
9. Remove the water pump hose.
10. Remove the tension roller and water pump.
Cleaning
Warning! Do not clean the mating surfaces of aluminum parts with a tool with a sharp edge. To dissolve the stuck gasket residue, use Decapjoint. Apply the compound to the surface to be cleaned. Wait approximately ten minutes, then remove the stuck gasket residue with a wooden spatula. It is recommended to wear gloves when performing this operation.
Installation
1. RHODORSEAL 5661 sealant is used to seal the water pump; apply a layer of sealant J (figure 2.83).
2. Apply a bead of LOCTITE 518 to the mating surface L between the inlet pipe and the water pump housing.
3. Install in the reverse order of removal.
4. Install the timing belt.
5. Don't forget to remove the TDC locking pin.
