Clean the camshafts with cleaner and dry them with a compressed air gun.

Make sure that the camshaft surfaces are free of scratches, impact marks and excessive wear (replace the camshaft if necessary).

The camshaft has 5 bearings. The camshafts are distinguished by the color markings indicated in the table below.

Place the camshaft on two lightly oiled V-shaped shoes (3).

Install the stand (4) and indicator (5).

Place the indicator on the mating surface of the camshaft main journal, in the center. Set the indicator pointer to zero.

Turn the camshaft, avoiding the area of the lubrication holes, to check the roundness of the main journals, the deviation from concentricity should be less than 0.05 mm.

Using a micrometer, measure the diameter (X1) of all camshaft journals.



M4R Engine:
  • bearing journal #1: 27.935-27.955 mm;
  • bearing journal No.2, 3, 4, 5: 24.950-24.970 mm.
