Warning: Your vehicle is equipped with a high-energy microprocessor-controlled ignition system (HEISS). The high-voltage wires carry approximately 25,000 volts, and although the low current is not life-threatening, a possible electric shock when testing the ignition system can lead to serious consequences. Therefore, if you handle a high-voltage wire with the ignition on, use a thick rubber glove or, at a pinch, pliers with insulated handles.

1. Open the hood.

1. Open the hood.

2. Check the condition of the ignition system wires. The insulation of the high-voltage wires should not be damaged, and the wire tips should not be oxidized. Replace damaged wires with new ones.

Helpful advice. The easiest and most effective way to check high-voltage wires is in the dark. Place the car in a dark place, start the engine and open the hood. Inspect the high-voltage wires. If the insulation of the wires is damaged, you will see a characteristic blue-violet spark ("northern lights"). In this case, the high-voltage wires must be replaced.
