Install the flywheel retainer (Mot. 582-01 or Mot. 1677).

Remove the clutch housing and driven disc.

Remove the flywheel.

Remove the engine oil pan.

Remove the engine oil pan.


Remove the timing belt tension roller.

Remove the timing belt tension roller.


Remove the water pump.

Remove the front cover of the engine block.

Remove the oil level sensor (1) and the oil separator.



Remove the oil pump and oil pump drive chain.

Caution: Do not use a center punch or engraving machine to mark the cap relative to the lower head, as this may cause the connecting rod to break. Use a permanent pencil.

Unscrew the connecting rod cap fastening nuts and remove the pistons with connecting rods as an assembly.



Note: Be sure to mark the main bearing shells relative to the crankshaft supports, as the supports may accommodate different classes of bearing shells.


Remove the crankshaft main bearing caps (bearing caps are numbered from 1 to 5).

Remove the crankshaft.

Removal the piston bottom cooling nozzles



Remove the piston crown cooling nozzles (1).

Remove the piston crown cooling nozzles (1).


Do not remove the ball to prevent chips from entering the oil channel.

Drill out the piston bottom cooling nozzles using a 7mm drill.

Remove the spring thrust bushing and the spring itself.

Remove metal filings with a brush.

Screw the device (Mot. 1485) into the injectors or (Mot. 1485-01) using a 6 mm Allen key, inserting it into the device (1).

Screw the inertia puller (Emb. 880) (1) onto the tool (Mot. 1485 or Mot. 1485-01).



Removal the thrust bushing and spring:

3 - ball


Remove the piston crown cooling nozzles (1).
Remove the piston crown cooling nozzles (1).

Remove the injectors.
