The system must provide frost resistance:
- frost resistance at temperatures up to - 25°C±2 for countries with a cold and temperate climate;
- frost resistance at temperatures up to -40°C±2 for countries with a very cold climate.
Scheme of the cooling system for H4J engines:
1 - engine;
2 - radiator of the engine cooling system;
3 - expansion tank;
4 - oil-water cooler;
5 - water pump pulley;
6 - thermostat;
7 - thermostat housing;
8 - heater radiator;
9 - turbocharger;
10 - water electric pump;
11 - drain plug;
12 - fitting for bleeding the brake drive.
Install a container to collect coolant under the engine. Open the drain plug (1) cooling system radiator.
Blow compressed air through the expansion tank opening with a pneumatic spray gun to remove as much coolant as possible.
Fill the cooling system with water through the expansion tank. Pour water through the system until the water flowing from the cooling system radiator outlet hose runs clear.
Use a pneumatic spray gun to blow compressed air through the opening of the expansion tank to flush out as much water as possible.
Close the drain plug of the cooling system radiator.
Filling with a tool (Mot. 1700) Fill the engine cooling system with the manufacturer's recommended fluid using a primer and bleeder (Mot. 1700).
Filling method without special device
Attention. Be sure to remove all drain bolts to remove as much air as possible from the cooling system. Failure to perform this operation may result in incomplete filling of the cooling system and cause engine damage.
Remove:
- air outlet (2) from the thermostat housing;
- air outlet (3) from the heater core hose.
Fill the engine cooling system with liquid recommended by the manufacturer by pouring it into the expansion tank up to the upper edge of the neck.
Close all air bleed plugs as soon as fluid begins to flow out in a continuous stream.
Pressurize the system with a cooling system tester and a valve in the expansion tank cap. Pour coolant into the reservoir until it starts to overflow.
Tighten the expansion tank cap.
Clean surfaces that have been exposed to coolant.
Attention. Do not open the bleeder plug while the engine is running to prevent damage to the engine.
Turn off the air conditioning system so that the electric fan does not turn on when the operation is started.
Start the engine.
Maintain the engine speed at 2500 rpm with the pedal pusher until the second blower operation. Check the functionality of the heater.
Let the engine cool down until the coolant temperature is below 50°C.
Bring the coolant level up to the mark «max».
Install the expansion tank cap.
