Other sensors installed on the vehicle track the actual trajectory of movement.
The system compares the trajectory set by the driver with the actual trajectory of the car and, if necessary, corrects it by acting on the brake mechanisms of certain wheels and / or limiting engine power. If the system is triggered, a warning light flashes in the instrument cluster.
The ASR system is an add-on and is part of the ESP system. It reduces the slip of the drive wheels and improves the vehicle's handling when starting off, during sudden acceleration or braking. Using sensors mounted on the wheels of the vehicle, the system measures and compares the speed of rotation of the drive wheels and monitors a sharp increase in the relative speed of their rotation.
If the wheel begins to spin, the system brakes the wheel, reducing wheel torque to a level that maintains wheel traction. The system also controls the engine speed, maintaining it at a level that provides traction, regardless of the position of the accelerator pedal.
Faults
If the system detects a malfunction, a message is displayed on the instrument panel «Check ESP», and the warning light with the wrench symbol is on. In this case, the ESP and ASR systems are disabled.
Turning the ESP and ASR systems on and off
The system can be switched off or on using key 1. In this case, the message appears on the instrument cluster «Traction control off».
