The air filter must be changed every 20,000 km. The location of the filter is shown in Illustration 13.1. A paper filter element is installed on all engines.

13.1 To remove the filter element, remove the wing nut (1) on a 4-cylinder engine, or the filter cover (2) on a V6 engine

The used filter element can be removed after removing the filter cover or after unscrewing the wing nut. Before installing a new element, thoroughly clean the filter housing.

To clean the inside surface, use a damp cloth. It is very important that the connection between the lid and the body is airtight.

Do not attempt to clean the filter element if it is time to replace it. If the element becomes clogged prematurely, blow it out with compressed air. This will remove small particles.

The process of completely removing the air filter is not very difficult (for example, depending on the model, you have to remove the generator), however, if you are unsure, mark all hoses and connections properly.

Tighten the hose clamps securely on V6 models to prevent air from entering.
