1. Tap the removed, still serviceable muffler with a hammer.
2. If you hear a ringing sound with each blow, then the muffler iron is in good condition.
3. If the sound from the impact is muffled in some places, then the outer part of the metal has already weakened and will soon rust; this happens especially quickly in the cold season, when the roads are sprinkled with salt.
4. When purchasing new exhaust system parts, be sure to purchase new self-locking nuts and gaskets.
5. Replace with new muffler rubber holders.
Exhaust System Repair Recommendations
1. Raise the vehicle and secure it securely.
2. If, when removing, any threaded connection is not unscrewed, then rip it off by turning it in the opposite direction.
3. If any part of the exhaust system has already been replaced, then it is best to disassemble the bolted connections in a warm state.
4. Auto repair shops use a welding torch for heating, but a blow torch will do. Be careful! Keep a fire extinguisher handy while working.
5. When working in the cold, be sure to use rust-dissolving agents.
6. Separate the pipes by rotating or hitting them with a hammer.
7. If this does not help, saw the pipe of the faulty muffler 10 centimeters from the junction.
8. Cut the rest of the pipe with a hacksaw and use a powerful screwdriver inserted into the resulting groove, like a lever, roll it up.
9. The threaded connections of the exhaust system will be easier to unscrew next time if the threads are lubricated with heat-resistant grease during assembly.
10. Apply this grease to the butt joints of the muffler pipes to make them easier to separate later.
