Removal

1. Access to the release bearing can be gained in one of two ways. Or remove the gearbox separately (see Section 7A), or remove the power unit (Section 2F) and separate the transmission from the engine on the workbench. If the gearbox is removed separately on E-series engines, it only needs to be moved to the side to gain access to the clutch.

2. Tilt the clutch release fork and remove the bearing assembly from the guide sleeve.

3. To remove the clutch release fork, unhook the rubber boot and pull the fork off its ball stud.

Inspection

4. Spin the bearing and make sure it rotates easily and smoothly. Otherwise, replace the component. Given the difficulty of gaining access, it is recommended to replace the bearing every time the clutch is overhauled, regardless of its condition.

Installation

5. Install the clutch release fork and release bearing in the reverse order of removal, paying attention to the following:

(Original of this article on the website: RenaultBook.ru)
  • Lubricate the clutch release fork pivot pin, as well as the contact surfaces of the release bearing and diaphragm spring, with a small amount of molybdenum grease.
  • Make sure the clip on the bearing carrier is engaged with the clutch release fork (see illustration).
