General Provisions
1. As stated in Section 4B or 4C, On fuel-injected models, it is difficult to check anything without special diagnostic equipment. The following points describe tests that can be done without using such equipment.
The engine turns over normally, but does not start
2. Check the high voltage wires, distributor cap (where available) and spark plugs, see Section 1.
3. Disconnect the wiring from the ignition amplifier or static ignition module and inspect the terminals for corrosion. If necessary, disconnect and reconnect the connectors several times to clean the terminals. If they are very dirty, clean them with a suitable tool.
4. Check the engine speed sensor (flywheel) as described in Section 4B or 4C.
5. On E- and F-series engines, disconnect the ignition coil terminals and check the resistance of the windings using an ohmmeter.

Misfires
6. Check the high voltage wires, distributor cap (where it is applied), and spark plugs.
7. Check the engine speed sensor (flywheel) as described in Section 4B or 4C.
8. If the fault cannot be identified, consult a Renault dealer or other specialist.
