1. The multipoint fuel injection system is installed on D-series engines, some F3P engines, and all F7P engines (with 16 valves). The system is described in detail in Chapter 6 (see illustration).

1.1 Location of major components of the distributed injection system: 1 - Idle speed control valve; 2 - Throttle potentiometer; 3 - Air filter; 4 - Fuel line and pressure regulator; 5 - Relay block; 6 - CO (mixture) adjustment potentiometer (if installed); 7 - Coolant temperature sensor; 8 - Intake manifold pressure sensor; 9 - Solenoid valve of the fuel vapor extraction system (if installed); 10 - Air temperature sensor; 11 - Cold start injector (if installed); 12 - Ignition module; 13 - Processor unit (under the fairing).

2. The fuel pump is electric and located inside the fuel tank. When the pump is running, fuel circulates continuously, and excess fuel returns to the tank. Models with F7P engine (with 16 valves) have an additional fuel tank and pump - see Chapter 12.

3. The exhaust system is normal. On all but some models with F7P engine (with 16 valves), it has a built-in catalytic converter designed to reduce the amount of harmful impurities in the exhaust gas. The catalytic converter and other emission control components are described in Part E of this Section.

Warning: Many of the procedures described in this Section require the removal of fuel lines and connections, which will usually result in some fuel leakage. Gasoline is extremely dangerous - exercise extreme caution when working around the fuel system.
