Note: To ensure proper operation of the fuel injection system, the accelerator pedal cable must be adjusted correctly.
Removal
1. While working in the engine compartment, rotate the throttle lever manually to relieve tension on the cable. Disconnect the cable from the lever.
2. Remove the cable cover and sealing ring from the bracket.
3. On models with automatic transmission, disengage the downshift mechanism.

4. Working inside the vehicle, disconnect the cable from the gas pedal by squeezing the locking tabs on the end (see Illustration 3.4 in Part B of this Section).
3.4. Connecting the cable to the gas pedal.
5. Pass the cable into the engine compartment and remove it.
Installation
6. Install in reverse order. If necessary, adjust the cable as follows.
Adjustment
7. The length of the cable is adjusted by changing the position of the pin on the casing. The adjustment is considered correct when, with the pedal pressed all the way down, the throttle valve is fully open, and when the pedal is released, the cable sags slightly.
8. On models with automatic transmission, the downshift mechanism should only operate when the pedal is fully depressed. To properly adjust this switch, special tools must be used. Consult your Renault dealer.
