Removal



1. While working in the engine compartment, press the throttle lever on the fuel pump and disconnect the cable from the lever. On models with a pressed-in end, pull the end of the cable out of the lever (see illustration).

2. Remove the cable housing rim from the sealing ring in the fuel pump bracket. Please note that on models with a ball end, you will need to press the ball out of the rubber end of the cable to allow the cable to be passed through the pump bracket (see illustrations).

3. Working inside the cabin, remove the lower trim panel from under the steering column. Disconnect the cable from the gas pedal by squeezing the tabs on the end.

4. Return to the engine compartment, release the cable housing in the bulkhead, and remove the cable.

Installation and adjustment



5. Install in reverse order, ensuring that the cable is routed as marked before removal, and finally check the cable length adjustment as follows.

6. Have an assistant press the accelerator pedal all the way down, then make sure that the accelerator lever on the fuel pump touches the maximum engine speed adjustment screw. If adjustment is necessary, remove the spring clip from the adjustment bezel, move the bezel to the desired side, and then insert the clip into the next available groove on the bezel.

7. Ask an assistant to fully release the accelerator pedal and check that the accelerator lever touches the deceleration speed adjustment screw.
